Egg Sensory Tray & Homemade Kinetic Sand

This easy Easter egg sensory craft is a perfect way to keep your children entertained and get them exploring textures and colors of the eggs and sand.

We set up a tray with some homemade kinetic sand and then added Easter themed toys and decorated eggs, to make our own Easter Sensory Playscape.

We have used hard boiled eggs, but you could also try with toy eggs.

Our eggs were decorated with temporary tattoos and watercolour.

To make the kinetic sand:

The kinetic sand recipe is from @mothercould, with a few tweaks. I coloured with our @eco_art_and_craft paint powder and added some beetroot powder and bio glitter.

This is the best natural, plastic-free kinetic sand recipe I’ve tried so far.

Items you will need:
1 cup bicarb
1/2 cup sugar
1/2 cup corn flour (we used regular plain flour)
1 tbsp cream of tartar
4 tbsp water
Colouring of choice
Whisk
Add a tiny bit of extra water if it’s too dry.

I made a double batch. I usually store bases like this in the freezer to keep them as long as possible. And the best part? No polymers/plastics, so it’s safe if the kids drop some outside on the lawn or a bird eats it (or the kids eat it!)

Enjoy!
